Dr. Hamzavi is the Immediate Past Chairman of ISPU Board. ISPU conducts objective, solution-seeking research that empowers American Muslims to further community development and fully contribute to democracy and pluralism in the United States.
Dr. Hamzavi is the Vice President of Hamzavi Dermatology and its affiliate Dermatology Specialists. It is one of the largest dermatology groups in Michigan with offices in rural, suburban and urban areas of Michigan. He is also on the faculty at Henry Ford Hospital’s department of dermatology and an Assistant Professor at Wayne State University both in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Hamzavi has been selected as one of America’s Best Doctors and is considered an international expert in several skin diseases. He has co-authored or authored more than 100 scientific papers, chapters and books in some of world’s preeminent medical journals. He has also served and founded organizations focused on providing new treatment options for diseases with limited treatment options. The groups have gone on to improve many patients lives. He serves on the boards of Crescent Academy International and the Board of visitors for the School of Arts and Sciences at Wayne State University. He was a confounder of ISPU and served as board chair for 15 years. He also serves on the boards of the Pillars foundation, TMO,and Emgage (formerly known as EmergeUSA). Dr. Hamzavi received his BA and MD from the University of Michigan.
